They Are Not All The Same
I'm not sure how many of you have children, but if you do, and you have more than one, you will soon realize that they are not all the same! I, like many new parents ( not new anymore) had the assumption that each child would be just like the firs one. I assumed they would have the same attitudes, same likes and dislikes, and same respect for my rules. WRONG! Now, I don't have any problem children, but what I do have is 3 individuals with 3 very distinct personalities.
The challenge a parent must endure, is how to raise 3 individuals. Or 4, 5, 2, 12, whatever your number may be. Thing is, each situation they put you in requires different actions for each child. While one justneeds talking to, the other may need something taken away. What you did with your first child in that situation may not necessarily work with the other two.
Getting to know your children and their personalities is key, I think, to having a nurturing relationship with them. Just by knowing their personalities will better help you deal with the many trials and tribs of parenthood. I love being a father, wouldn't trade it for anything, and I think raising children has to be one of the most difficult, yet, rewarding parts of life.
I am blessed by my children, as well as challenged, encouraged, worn-out, exhausted, tested, tried and many other verbs and adjectives that come along with the journey. Just remember they are not all the same, and may not all be exactly like you. Just help them to be exactly who God intended for them to be.
