An adventure game for the slower-paced players! Don't take the slower-paced comment as negative, however. Playing the Syberia video game is like sampling a glass of fine wine; relax while sipping it and really enjoy its ambiance.

Syberia's story line involves our primary character, Kate Walker. She is a lawyer from New York, and she has been sent to the far away French town of Valadilene to finalize the sale of the Voralberg family's toy factory to a more modern toy company. The owner of the Voralberg factory, Anna Voralberg, has just passed away and the deal seems to be halted. Through Kate's inquisitive nature, she learns there is a possible living heir of the toy factory, and she sets off in search of him and the adventure begins.

Along the way, players learn the town of Valadilene was known throughout the world for the Voralberg factory which created automatons, mechanical toys, and intricate working mechanical devices like clocks. Their expertise with creating imaginative and amusing mechanical items were highly sought after. Time has caught up with the factory however, and it is no longer the icon it used to be. The youth of Valadilene have left the town since the factory is no longer attractive, given the modern day technology. Graphics of Valadilene certainly reflect this. As you wander through the town, it is a very quiet and moves at a slow pace, almost like a ghost town. The residents are helpful, if not quirky from time to time.

The graphics of Syberia are stunning and unforgettable. Given the slow pace of the game, it invites you to wander, explore, and take in all of the beautiful scenery created. The puzzles are well-integrated into the game, and are largely mechanical in nature. Common sense is needed for this game and most things work logically the way you'd expect them to. If you get stumped on a puzzle, be sure you've talked to the locals and checked your inventory. There is something you can use or learn that has escaped your attention. Don't forget your cell phone.

Syberia is the ideal journey to be taken after a hard days work. With the awe-inspiring scenery, relaxed pace, and beautiful music combining so well together, Syberia lets you leave the troubles of daily life behind, and submerge yourself in a calmer, simpler, and more serene environment. It is an all-encompassing experience and you'll enjoy visiting the world of Syberia over and over.
