Keeping Stainless Steel Sinks Looking Good

Many homeowners (and renters) like the look of stainless steel sinks in the kitchen. These can look amazing as long as they are cared for in the proper manner. What is great is that though you do have some upkeep, they are rather low maintenance. There are a few things you should know about keeping it clean and nice, and some things that you can do to make it sparkle. There is something relaxing about walking into your kitchen and seeing the sink sparkle in the light. It gives your kitchen a feeling of clean.

Stainless steel sinks should not be that hard to clean, but there are times when you have to put a little elbow grease into it. Some things like grease and dried on foods can be hard to get out. When dealing with grease, it can be quite simple. Add a few drops of your dish detergent to the area, and then sprinkle with warm water. Let it sit for a moment and it should come right up. For dried-on foods, a scrubby that is safe for stainless steel sinks and a little soak time should clean the mess right up in no time.

There are some things that will not stain, but they do appear to do just that. When you pour coffee and tea down stainless steel sinks, for example, some of those liquids can sit in the grooves of the sink. This will dull the appearance, and may give the illusion of a stain. When that happens, a little Comet and some elbow grease can clean these things up right away. Don’t forget to use it on your sink stoppers as well, as they can be the dingiest part of the sink. Make sure you rinse well and your sink of stainless steel should look like new again.

When you want that special shine, there are a few things that you can do. Most like to use glass cleaner when they are done cleaning their stainless steel sinks. This works great after using Comet because it cleans out any remaining cleaning agent, and the gives the sink an incredible shine. Don’t forget to wipe down your faucet with that as well. You can also get some special cleaner that is made for anything made with stainless steel. Follow the directions and do your stainless steel sinks at least once a month to keep it looking like new.

Summary

Stainless steel sinks are easy to take care of compared to other types of materials.
