Reasons To Print Play Money
When you think of play or fake money, you probably think of the game of Monopoly. That game is a lot of fun, but can also be a great lesson in many things. Not only does it help with understanding money and how to manage it, it does help with critical thinking skills as well. The money is probably the easiest part of the game to lose, and that means finding ways to print play money to replace it. That is not the only reason to do so, especially if you have kids in your home.
When my daughter turned three, she found an interest in money. She knew we used it all of the time and she realized we could get things with it. She started to collect change, and to our amusement, she preferred the pennies to the other coins. That was fine with us. However, when she started wanting paper money, it was time to print play money so that she could learn about it without us having to give her our money. She had a way of destroying things, and losing a twenty to her games did not seem like a good idea.
You can print play money to help your children understand money and how it works, much like we did. You can keep it simple, or you can use it to play things like what happens when you go to the store, or even worse, what happens when you pay bills. Sticking it in an envelope and sending it out usually works. They learn that some money goes to things indirectly, and that it is much different than buying something from a store. Eventually you can use allowance to teach these lessons, but if you print play money when they are young, you can teach the same lessons.
If you aren’t sure you want to print play money, you can always buy some rather cheaply. As far as I know, you can find replacement Monopoly money when you run low and have lost much of what came with your game. You can also find great packages for both play and learning reasons. Some even come with coins, which are, as you know, next to impossible to print out on your home computer printer, or any other printer for that matter. You can even use this play to earn things at home. Put a price on a trip to the zoo or even a trip to the ice cream store, and allow your kids to earn things with their play money. It works like a charm.
Summary
Play money has been around since games were created. Children need to learn how money works and nothing helps them understand the concepts better than having their own play money to buy things with. Monopoly money is a great substitute if you can't print your own.
