Online Chess

I have never been much of a chess player, and perhaps that is just because no one in my family really played the game. This was something I did learn when I was young, but I never had anyone to play with, and it never really thrilled me that much anyway. However, there are many who love the game, and there are some great benefits from playing for extended periods of time. This is something my husband likes to do on occasional, and I find him in the occasional online chess game.

Though he goes into the online chess game that is for beginners, he runs into some really good players. He is starting to suspect that he is the only one in the world that is really playing online chess for beginners. He is pretty sure the beginner rooms are full of players who are really good, but are looking for the ego boost of winning almost every single game they play. I don’t know if that is true, or if that is what he tells himself to make himself feel better.

Whatever the case, I did watch him play online chess once, and I have to admit he might have been on to something. The person he was playing beat him within a matter of minutes, and I didn’t think they played like a beginner. Their moves where to precise, too fast, and the win was just too brutal. He really hopes that he can find another place to play online chess that will have more beginners like him so he can learn to play a little better. He said you can’t learn anything if the game lasts one minute, and he is definitely right about that.

His problem is that he does not have a lot of time to play. Otherwise, he may have found some new places to play online chess where the competition would be more even and he could learn to be a better player. There are sites for those who have been playing all their lives and are really good, and there are beginner sites for online chess for people like my husband. Either way, it is not exactly the same as playing in person, but it can be rather close. This is especially great for those who don’t have a lot of time or have no one to play with in person.

Summary: Playing online chess gives you the opportunity to play with some really excellent players. Some are very experienced which will be evident when you play. If you are a beginner, there are sites where you can begin to learn and interact with others for tips and strategies.
