Party Time? Elegant And Easy Party Recipes That Let You Join The Party!

If you enjoy entertaining, you naturally want to serve your guests great food, but may not have the time, energy or the know-how to put together a fabulous feast. Don't let this stand in your way! With a little preparation time spent a day ahead, or, in some cases, even a week, and a little help from your friendly supermarket, you can serve an awesome meal with our easy party recipe ideas. Our sample menu below will knock the socks off your guests, with you enjoying every minute, right along with your guests. Sound too good to be true? Well, let's see!

A nice assortment of appetizers gets your party off to a terrific and delicious start. Most of these appetizers can be prepared in minutes.

1.Arrange cold cooked prawns, with tails on, in a circle around a serving plate. Tie a couple of blades of chives around the tail portion and serve with a bowl of cocktail sauce in the center for dipping.

2.Use a little help from your friends in the freezer aisle for this easy party recipe. Pick up a bag, or two, depending on the number of guests, of pre-cooked cocktail size meatballs. Serve on a platter, with a ramekin of horseradish on one side, and one of sweet-and-sour sauce on the other. Supply cocktail toothpicks for easy eating.

3.This easy party recipe is a partial do-ahead. Slice pesto sausage into 1-inch thick pieces and saute until done. Bag them up and refrigerate. Half an hour before party time, thinly slice Parmesan cheese and cut squares to fit the sausage. Skewer whole black olives to top each sausage slice and set on one side of a warming plate. (You'll use the other half of the warmer for appetizer #4.)

4.Here's another quick and easy party recipe do-ahead. Julienne boneless, skinless chicken breasts and saute in olive oil. Bag up and store in the frig. Half an hour before you expect guests, brush the slices with a mesquite or honey flavored barbecue sauce. Slip them on to the warming plate, with a votive holder full of cocktail toothpicks on each side.

5.Brie and crackers makes an elegant addition to your appetizer lineup. Warm the Brie gently, only until it's slightly runny, just before serving. Put it on a plate and surround with crackers. Magnifique!

Easy party recipes are ones that are easy on the cook! For your greens, make a large bowl of salad. Using a deep wooden salad bowl, rub the sides and bottom with olive oil and a clove of fresh garlic. Fill your bowl with hearts of Romaine and mesclun. Mix it up. In separate dishes around the salad bowl, provide an assortment of salad additions of your choosing. Sliced mushrooms, marinated artichoke hearts, tomato wedges, sliced cucumbers, diced red Spanish onions, croutons – whatever strikes your fancy – are just a few ideas. Your guests can make their custom salad according to their preference. Fill a salad dressing cruet with a good quality Italian dressing.

For your entrees, two of the easiest solutions to your easy party recipes are a baked ham or succulent roast beef. Neither requires much watching. Just time the cooking so that they're ready about an hour after guests arrive. By the time they've had a chance to enjoy the appetizers and salad, dinner's ready!

The old 'rules' on wine selection no longer apply. You needn't stick to red for beef, white for chicken, etcetera. Provide a white, red and rose in sufficient quantity – in case you have a run on red, the remainder can go into the wine cellar for later consumption!

Now, for the finale, dessert. Here again, rely on a commercial bakery for your easy party recipe. There are so many fantastic choices which don't cost much more than if you were to bake it yourself. A triple layered chocolate fudge cake, Boston crème pie, or a fresh strawberry pie topped with real whipping cream will please the most discerning of guests.

Who said that easy party recipes had to be home made? Your guests will never know that you didn't spend days on this delightful repast!
