One thing that might warm your heart more than anything would be to see children helping others. Though children are often kind, and innocent, they are often very egocentric. This is just the way they are, and there is nothing wrong with it. Most begin to grow out of it near age five, but it can be a very slow process. Perhaps this is why seeing them reaching out and helping others can really touch the heart, and also gives parents great hope for their future.
Children helping others don’t have to do anything special, as long as they are helping. My daughter likes to go to the animal shelter to take treats to the animals, and this is often something she thinks of on her own. It might come from her own wish to see the animals, but I think there is something in there that shows she has concern. She wants those animals to have some of the same things that our pets at home have. When it comes to good deeds, children helping animals is often most common. Children helping other children is often very touching as well. It doesn’t have to be anything big, but parents should commend them when they catch them doing so. This might be them taking some time to help another child who may have fallen behind or fallen down, or perhaps helping them with a chore. On the other end of the spectrum, you may see children helping others in a way that you think would only be open to adults. They may want to give their things to the poor, or volunteer time where it could be used the most. They may even help others indirectly by picking up trash, encouraging their teacher to recycle in the classroom, or perhaps by pestering someone to adopt a pet rather than buying one. Probably the best thing about seeing children helping others is when they seem to do it because they can’t take the sadness they feel over a situation. This means that when they feel pain, they know they have to do something about it rather than just ignore it. That is a beautiful personality trait, and will serve them well in the future. Children helping others don’t have to do much, as long as they are doing it for the right reasons. Not only will they feel pleasure when you commend them for it, they will feel the pleasure of knowing they did a good thing. Summary: Children helping others is a wonderful sight to see. It shows children are aware of society and lending a helping hand makes them very much a part of life around them. Reaching out to others is something we all need to do to benefit others and ourselves. Kids can do small things like picking up litter, or helping out in class. Encourage them to help others when they see a need.
